Helen Steiner Rice wrote some of the most beautiful inspirational poetry of our time, and richly deserved the accolade of Americaís Poet Laureate of Inspirational Verse.

Widowed while still very young, Mrs. Rice became a successful businesswoman and lecturer, but found her most satisfying outlet in writing verse for a prominent greeting card company. Her poems received wide exposure in the 1960ís when several were read by Aladdin on the poetry segment of the Lawrence Welk television show. The demand for her poems became so great that her books are still selling steadily after many printings. Helen Steiner Riceís books of inspirational poetry have now sold nearly seven million copies and have comforted and encouraged readers for over fifty years. The strong faith she had in God and the ability she had to express deep emotion give her poems timeless appeal. For millions of readers the poetry of Helen Steiner Rice is a living testimony to the reality of Godís action in human lives.

Before her death, Helen Steiner Rice established the HELEN STEINER RICE FOUNDATION, a nonprofit corporation that awards grants to worthy charitable programs assisting the elderly and the needy in Lorain, Ohio, where Helen Steiner Rice was born and in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio, where Mrs. Rice lived and worked most of her life. Royalties generated by the poetry and inspirational writings of Helen Steiner Rice provide the foundation with the resources to carry out this work.

Because of her foresight, caring, and deep conviction of sharing, Helen Steiner Rice continues to touch a countless number of lives through foundation grants and through her inspirational poetry.
